Landscape designer

Raidun Schott

Raidun is a landscape designer who strives to apply systematic landscape knowledge in an artistic and poetic way, evoking emotion and meaning in her designs. She thrives in a dynamic environment where she can switch between large-scale, visionary thinking—focused on impact—and small-scale implementation, where ideas become tangible.

Background

Raidun completed her Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture at Wageningen University & Research, with minors in art (University of Valencia) and architectural history (University of Amsterdam). In addition to her work at H+N+S, she is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, where she was introduced to the Scottish holistic view of landscape during her EMiLA exchange in Edinburgh (Edinburgh College of Arts). She gained experience at various design firms and the design studio of Wageningen Environmental Research (NL2120 and EU2120 projects).

Focus

Designing with Existing Features

Raidun enjoys designing in response to the existing landscape. She seeks out existing elements that can be used to create something that is beautiful and something that works. She enjoys reusing materials, raw materials, and plants. Raidun is driven by sustainability and creativity, where the challenge is to avoid introducing "the unnecessary."

Landscape Processes

Raidun sees the landscape as a living entity that is constantly in motion. She seeks ways to support these processes so the landscape can shape itself. Her design provides direction and clarity by utilizing elements such as dynamics and natural growth—from the broad outlines of the region down to the smallest detail.

Other activities

Daydream Veils

Besides designing landscapes, Raidun also creates art. In 2025, she was selected as one of the artists for the "art rooms" at Hotel De Groene Afslag, where she realized the concept "Heaven in Earth." A hotel room where daydreamy veils of repurposed cheesecloth, pigmented with plants from the surrounding heathland, create a dreamy yet grounded layering. Raidun enjoys working with textiles (or repurposed materials) and natural pigments in her art.

In Motion

Movement is a common thread throughout her work and life. Raidun feels at home in the coastal landscape—dynamic and ever-changing—where she can release her energy by surfing and playing beach volleyball. She loves being outdoors and regularly moves from place to place to discover new environments and cultures.
